Cost

The cost of a taster session is £10. You will be sent a discount code to take the cost of your taster session off the term fee (£100). Please note that the membership fee is fixed, we do not offer a pay-as-you-go rate or discount if you join the term late.

How many taster sessions can I attend?

Your booking allows you to attend one rehearsal to try out the choir, after which you can decide if you wish to join for the term. If you are unable to attend on the date that you’ve booked, you can come to the next rehearsal, as long as it’s not more than four weeks after the start of term.

Is there an age limit?

There’s no upper age limit, but we can only take singers aged 18 and over at present.

What music will we be singing?

We aim to offer a really rich variety of music, from folk songs to classical, to pop, to jazz and everything else.

What practice will I need to do in between rehearsals?

You will need to put in a little bit of time (an hour a week, spread over 7 days, is less than 10 minutes a day) to memorise words etc. There is usually a little bit of homework to revise a couple of songs to ensure we are making progress at each rehearsal.

I’ve never sung before, can I join?

Rehearsals can move at a fairly fast pace, but if you are new or returning after a break, be assured that you will find things quickly get easier, especially if you make use of the mp3s provided, and listen to other recordings of the pieces. Many of our singers don’t sight read fluently, but learn a lot by ear. Choral singing skills take a little while to build up, but like any language the more we immerse ourselves, the more fluent we become. There are no formal auditions, but we may ask you to take an ear test, either when you join or at some point later in your choir membership, and we may ask or encourage you to take singing or music theory lessons.

Cancellation policy

Once your place is booked we do not offer refunds. If you would like to try the choir out first, please book a taster session. You will be sent a discount code to use to take the cost of your taster session off the term cost if you subsequently book for the same term.
